HIGHLIGHTS

DAY 01 – ARRIVAL – PINNAWALA – DAMBULLA

Our representative will pick you from Colombo International Airport with a warm welcome and you will be transferred to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (drive time approx..2 ½ hrs.) Then after that transfer to Dambulla

As you enter the 25-acre coconut property, do not be surprised to witness baby elephants being bottle fed or moving around freely causing absolutely no harm to anyone. It is rightly a sincere sight to observe how these gentle giants – orphaned and sometimes three-legged – are taken care of since 1975 at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Up to date, over 20 calves have been born here, and it is surprising to hear that some of its inmates have even seen their grandchildren during the past few decades! Watch as they feed at 09:15 am, 0:15 pm & 05:00 pm and take a river bath twice a day at 10:00 am & 02:00 pm respectively for an experience that could never be felt anywhere else on earth!

After the Pinnawala guest will be transferred directly to Dambulla and Check-In at Hotel..

DAY 02 – DAMBULLA – MATALE - KANDY

After breakfast check out and transfer to Sigiriya. En-route to Sigiriya Rock Fortress (drive time approx. 2 ½). And proceed to Spice Garden in Matale. Afterwards to Kandy to the Tooth Temple

The 5th century rock citadel of King Kasyapa and World Heritage Site – Sigiriya – doesn’t only boasts of ancient Sri Lankan engineering & urban planning supremacy but also acclaims to be one of the finest monuments of art & culture.  Step through the gigantic ‘Lion Paws’ – overlooking the symmetrical royal gardens below – to comprehend the absolute splendor that once dominated this rock fortress. Surrounded by ramparts & moats the Lion Rock – resembling the mythological ‘City of Gods’ – is coated by frescoes that relate to Gupta style paintings found in Ajanta caves of India. Walk in the shade of an eminent ‘mirror wall’ embracing the Western face of Sigiriya representing an artistic hundred meters laminated with graffiti. Wander into the well-fabricated museum downstairs for an epic journey of yesteryears to realize how the citadel floated above citizens with the castle, ponds and irrigation systems that pumped water right onto its summit with an ingenious hydraulic system describing a colossal masterpiece of the great king which remained a wonder in Asia for centuries.

After the Pinnawala guest will be transfer Spice Garden.

Spicing the Wonder of Asia, Mawanella is renowned for a handsome contribution towards the spice industry. Stop by a spice grow – which will welcome you highly – for a quick glance at the process bundled with growing & processing spices while inhaling the fresh scent entrapped within the shady grows that cater towards the bloodline of national growth.

After witnessing the Spice Garden  guest will be transfer to handicraft shop and Kandy temple.

Last ruled by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe – before it was brought under the British rule in 1815, Kandy – the World Heritage Site & last royal capital of Sri Lankan kings – crafts an array of culture, history and heritage in the minds of visitors across the globe. Experience an ancient Kandyan legacy engraved around its crown jewel, the temple of the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha.

 A stroll across this small lakeside town – cradled among the misty hills – will feature the Kandy City Centre – bundled with latest and world class brands, bazaar, an arts & crafts center, as well as a gem museum & lapidary. Drive towards Victoria Golf Course, undoubtedly one of the best golf courses in the world for a sweep blended with class and style. Or walk-in color as you glide through fresh fruits and vegetables in the Kandy market. Fine tune your evening by stepping to the beat of traditional music & drumming amplified by a cultural show enhancing the rich and vibrant culture of the Wonder of Asia, Sri Lanka.

DAY 03 –KANDY – NUWARA ELIYA

After the breakfast check out and transfer to Kandy. En- route guest will witness Ramboda Waterfall and a tea factory Fortress (drive time approx. 2 ½). And arrive in Nuwara Eliya and proceed with a sightseeing city tour and Check-In at Hotel

 Misty steep roads, twisting through lush green blankets of tea bushes in a cool climate, remind visitors that they are within the range of the renowned British colonial retreat, Nuwara Eliya. Augmented by an English countryside atmosphere, the city of light – once governed by English & Scottish planters – is still studded with colonial bungalows, hedgerows & one of the finest 18-hole golf courses in the world. A hike through the green grass and red-brick walls should present breathtaking views of a buzzing countryside hamlet.

Hop into a rattling train smoking and hissing its way through green valleys of the hill country pierced by endless waterfalls & dotted by tea pluckers draped in bright-colored saris. Or rent a bike for a gentle ride along the banks splashed by the waters of Lake Gregory.

DAY 04 - NUWARA ELIYA

After the breakfast visit Seetha Amman Temple in Hakgala (drive time approx. 35 mins). And then by Afternoon proceed with a Sightseeing NuwaraEliya City Tour and return back to Hotel.

Seetha Amman Temple is located approximately 1 kilometer (0.62 mi) from Hakgala Botanical Garden and 5 kilometers (3.1 mi) from Nuwara Eliya. The temple is located in the village of Seetha Eliya (also known as Sita Eliya). This place is believed to be the site where Sita was held captive by (Vikram) king Ravana, and where she prayed daily for Rama to come and rescue her in the Hindu epic, Ramayana. On the rock face across the stream are circular depressions said to be the footprints of Lord Hanuman.

DAY 05 - NUWARA ELIYA – ELLA

After the breakfast check out and transfer to Ella (drive time approx. 2 Hrs). Upon arrival visit Nine-Arch Bridge & Little Adams Peak and Check-In at hotel in Ella

If the time permits you can do a nature walk to Nine arche bridge which is one of the iconic bridge buid between Ella and Demodara Railway stations. This massive bridge has been built entirely of solid rocks, bricks, and cement without using a single piece of steel. When one stands underneath it and looks up there is a beautiful sight of ‘nine skies’ through the nine arches, hence it’s called as Nine Skies Bridge. It also called ‘The Bridge in the sky’ due to the height.

After witnessing the Nine-Arch Bridge guest will be transferred to climb Adams Peak.

As cries of ‘Sādhu Sādhu Sā’ echo the skies in devotion the legend unfolds encircling the holiest mountain of Sri Lanka, Sri Pada or Adam’s Peak. The fiction of this 2243m high peak dates back to the beginning of mankind as Muslims believe it to be the place where Adam first set foot on earth while the Buddhist belief depicts how Lord Buddha – on his visit to Sri Lanka – placed his sacred footprint on this sanctuary fostered by God Sumana Saman. Moreover, as the Hindu belief engulfed around the sacred footprint of God Siva comes to light, Adam’s Peak becomes an oasis where people from each inception flock together in adoration. Cross the river and start climbing at night. Reach the top just before sunrise to adore its overwhelming beauty & tranquility baptizing life for a new chapter on mother earth.

DAY 06 - ELLA – YALA - THISSA

After the breakfast check out and transfer to Yala. En- route guest to visit Ravana Waterfall (drive time approx. 4). Check-In hotel

Spreading into a vast 1259 Km2 Yala – with its glory spinning around vast grasslands, shrubs, tanks and dunes – rightfully is the heartland of wildlife in Sri Lanka. As your jeep rumble through the giant gates of Yala, you are not only stepping into the most visited national park in the country, but also the lands of a civilization which thrived during the reign of Sri Lankan kings. You name it, and Yala has it! Its usual inmates cover herds of elephant, sloth bear, spotted dear, jackal, extensively populated birdlife as well as the highest density of leopards in the world that garnish the park to be one of the finest destinations in the country. Feel the rough track as your jeep thunders over rocks and swish passing narrow bends for an exhilarating experience blended with the cries of wilderness under the tropical sun.

DAY 07 – THISSA / GALLE / BENTOTA

After the breakfast check out and transfer to Galle.. Upon arrival guest will proceed on a City Tour in Galle Dutch Fort (drive time approx. 4). On completion transfer to Beruwala Hotel.

Galle, the epic Southern capital, is the intersection where classic Dutch architecture meets a tropical setting creating a vivid atmosphere in beauty. Walk the Dutch-haunted streets listening to the creaks of wooden saloon doors and observe how European architecture mingles with South Asian traditions today flooding cultural enthusiasts on a global scale. Its original ramparts and bastions preserved up to date showcase evidences of a heritage preserved for more than 3 1/2 centuries. Walk clockwise within the fort to observe the ‘old gate’ carrying the British coat of arms. Flanking the old gate is the Zwart bastion – the oldest of all – and the lighthouse standing 18 feet in its glory next to the Point Utretcht Bastion. This Dutch bliss is painted with streets that spread in a rectangular grid pattern pierced with houses carrying Dutch colonial style verandas. However, its hallmark stands a reality where the Dutch fort remains a working community with its usual buzz of administrative offices, court complex, commercial buildings, churches and Southern folks frequenting its streets bracing the air of the Elysium of architecture, Galle!

DAY 08 – BENTOTA - BALAPITIYA - BENTOTA

After breakfast RELAX at the Hotel and afternoon transfer to Balapitiya (drive time approx. 40mins).  Upon arrival proceed on a Boat Safari at Madu River through Mangrove Tunnels and return back to Hotel in Bentota

Balapitiya is where one could just sit back and observe how ecology and culture combines under the sun! Cut through the clear water of Madu River – a lifeline of Balapitiya – and head towards Kotu Duwa, the small island housing a temple that dates back to ancient Sinhalese kings. Or, sail through tunnels of shady mangroves swaying alongside Madu River – hiding an ecological treasure – to witness the tranquility of this bio-diversity hot spot which boasts of reptiles, mollusks and over 70 species of fresh water fish. Today the region – which is strong in observing rural folk life in the island – does not only boast of cinnamon plantations in abundance, but also has a fine ‘fish pedicure center’ – one of the most potent & latest rejuvenation techniques. Apart from these amenities Balapitiya has also become a household name in the minds of bird watchers ensuring a thrilling offshore experience.

DAY 09 – BENTOTA – COLOMBO CITY TOUR

After the breakfast check out and transfer to Colombo (drive time approx. 2Hrs).  Upon arrival to Colombo proceed on a City Tour including a shopping and Check In at hotel.

The throbbing metropolis, Colombo – located in the West – is not only the country’s capital, but also the turbine that impels above 50% of the national GDP flanking Colombo’s fancy urban development effort. Drive along the clean streets edging the crystal white Race Course – horse racing hub in 1893 & World War II airstrip – furnished today with lavish clothing, food & tea boutiques. Meanwhile, ride to Pettah & tune into the Floating Market – an offbeat shopping experience – or feel the buzz surrounding the upcoming inspiration, the Colombo Port City – an offshore city – featuring parks, commercial complexes & even an F1 track! Head along Bauddhaloka Mawatha towards ‘Arcade’ facing a historic way post, the Independence Square. Every designer boutique, top-notch cuisine outlet and even the ‘walk-over fish tank’, have revamped this colonial masterpiece into one of the trendiest shopping and hangout zones in Sri Lanka.

Have a chilled beer at the Dutch Hospital while gazing through fancy windows showcasing best fashion, jewelry & handicraft brands. Smell the scent of incense while listening to the chiming bells of Gangarama temple. Or, jazz up to Colombo’s night life spiced by night clubs & casinos that borderline its bustle. If you’re lucky, head into an exhibition at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) before swaying your head to an opera or play at Nelum Pokuna that should just drive your day into perfection!

DAY 10 – COLOMBO – AIRPORT

After breakfast from the Hotel, with an Early Check- Out proceed to Airport for Departure.
